I realized that I lost one of my leather gloves while raking leaves for the elderly in my community this morning. So I went back to yard where I hoped to find it. While explaining this dilemma to the owner of the yard (really old guy with shaky wrists and elbows), he said, “Yeah, you wouldn’t wanna lose one of THOSE gloves; that’s good leather!”
WOW. How many people do you know that can identify good or cheap leather gloves at a glance? I can’t do it. But I shopped these particular gloves for a strong leather grain, so I know he’s right. I get tired of cheap ones ripping out at the tips or losing their seams. But when glancing around at the leather gloves of the other volunteers, I couldn’t see the difference. Things like this make me appreciate the older generation.
