I tire of his sappy, gooey, over-the-top, feel good brand of entertainment, anyway. He is the least gifted actor in Hollywood. Hell, he has been playing the same character since "Bosom Buddies" aired in 1980. He dumbed it down a little for "Gump," but it was basically the same character.

I've never trusted him and now I know why. IMHO the most "un-American" thing a person can do is criticize other Americans for exercising their Constitutional rights. Weren't Mormons simply exercising our right to free speech? It's the first - DAMNED - amendment for hell sakes. Take that away from us and we all might as well live in Venezuela.

Maybe a boycott isn't enough. Maybe we should consider him an ex-patriot and deport his whiny/Mormon hating ass. He'd fit in well in France.

Oh, brother! I think this is a great example of the intolerance exhibited in society towards a people who try to live decent, upstanding lives but who don't always follow the mainstream. Seriously, I thought high school was over. Besides, nobody I know liked it when they were in it.
Additionally, I can't help but feel that this is a retaliatory effort by Tom Hanks coming off the back of his 'Mormons aren't American because they voted against proposition 8' stuff. After his publicist realized that Mormons are a critical part of his audience and made him retract his comments, it makes sense that this would be a more covert way for him to try to retaliate.

Is that bad? Hmmm. Not sure. Here's the thing. It's not like you. In fact, I doubt it's like any of us. 99.98% of the time we are eating, sleeping, breathing, "think Christlike thoughts, do Christlike works." - And as a result, we walk peacably amoung mankind. However, one of the few instances of righteous indignation found in canon is when the Saviour, with a whip, cleared the temple courtyard. His rationale dealt with those who used a sacred place for enriching themselves. Comparing this incident to Hanks' production, we see, once again, The House Of Prayer exploited by a den of thieves. In short, a virtual whip for this virtual offense seems to be more in accord with Celestial protocol. :-) While I'm looking for a virtual whip, it is my intention to make my house more like my Father's House by filling it with prayer and cleansing it of all Tom Hanks movies, AOL applications, HBO stuff and every other unholy and impure substance.
